Using drilling fluid as the power medium, the screw drill, which is delivered to the bottom of the well through the central hole of the drill string, creates a pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the screw drill motor. This pressure difference converts the fluid pressure energy into mechanical energy, which in turn transmits torque and rotational speed to the drill bit. During drilling, the screw drill is directly connected to the drill bit; the entire drill string only serves as a channel for delivering high-pressure working medium and a rod for supporting the reverse torque of the drill bit, and does not perform rotational movement. Compared with conventional drilling, using a screw drill for drilling has many advantages, such as reducing drill pipe wear, increasing weight on bit and drilling speed, and improving drilling efficiency. It is an important tool for drilling directional wells and horizontal wells, and has played a significant role in the field of drilling.
